What a week! Sadly, we lost three famous gentlemen: one who brought us the glorious Dame Edna, Barry Humphries; one who introduced us to the daytime circus, Jerry Springer; and the one who gifted us with beautiful music, Harry Belefonte. Someone infamous also passed this week, but we'll let her endure her final justice anonymously. So, what else is new? Well, let's check in on the scuttlebutt, shall we?
Elon Musk just can't seem to keep his name out of social media conversations. This week, it was all about the Blue Check. For context: the Twitter Blue Check was originally meant to verify the accounts of the famous. It was a useful tool that allowed readers to know they were tweeting with the real deal. Musk said, "Begone! EVERYONE should have a Blue Check if they so desire. So, I'll charge $8 a month so you, too, can feel like a Twitter celebrity." Talk about a Fail Whale. Actual celebs refused to participate, making the useful idiots who did buy a check stand out like one of those folks born every minute. So, Elon started returning Blue Checks to some celebs, but they no longer wanted them. Oh, it's been quite the saga!
Not to let Musk have all the limelight, DeSantis also got himself into a bit of a kerfuffle Before you could say Bibbity Bobbity Boo! he found himself the target of a lawsuit from Walt Disney World. Will Micky be The Mouse That Roared and ends the man's presidential hopes?
Of course, it wouldn't be a week if we didn't have some good news. April will officially come to end this Sunday. Farewell to what TS Eliot referred to as the cruelest month.
