This week brought some crazy football shenanigans with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, Joe Burrows, not living up to his “highest paid contract in history” with a loss to the beleaguered Cleveland Browns. The oft-dismissed Detroit Lions beat the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. Then, the anticipated arrival of Aaron Rogers on the NY Jets was a bust - literally. More climate disaster as floods roared through Libya, killing tens of thousands of people. In the US, we commemorated 9/11, still grateful it hasn’t turned into a day of mattress sales. The internet was out in full force with all the news. Let’s check in.
Hunter Biden was indicted on the Federal charge of lying about his drug use when he purchased a fire arm in 2018. Republicans were thrilled until the NRA said, “Psst. Guys? Were against those laws. Remember?”
Lolo BoBo was removed from a theater during a performance of Beetlejuice for vaping and being disruptive. “Oops!” She said, “I thought I was in the halls of Congress.”
Kevin McCarthy will begin an impeachment inquiry against President Biden. “We take impeachment very seriously,” said the Speaker, “I’d never do this if it weren’t in my own best interests.”
Mitt Romney has announced his retirement from Congress. Irish Setters across the nation cheered in unison.
Finally, tonight begins the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashana, the start of a new year. Shana Tova!
That’s it for this week. Enjoy the last week of summer and stay safe out there.
